Shri Thanedar Statement on Tax Bill

“Moments ago, the Republican Congress solidified its place in history as being responsible for passing the most disastrous tax bill I’ve seen in the thirty-eight years I’ve lived in the United States.

“This tax bill is a perfect example of what’s at stake in our state’s Governor’s race. We have to disrupt politics as usual. We cannot afford to elect another Republican Governor. We rank dead last in the country on measures of government ethics, integrity and transparency. Establishment, career-politicians have become beholden to corporations, special interests and wealthy donors and they’ve stopping fighting for bold, progressive, innovative solutions that will improve the lives of working families. It’s time for a change.

“I believe in a progressive tax structure where the rich, the ultra-rich and the corporations pay their fair share, and we put people over profits, and that is what I will fight for as Governor.”
